From the age of 14 I knew I wanted to be a television director. And right from the start it was factual programmes that fired me up. This went somewhat against the guidance of my school careers adviser who, aided by a psychometric assessment questionnaire, had determined that I’d be ideally suited to life as a yacht builder.

Undeterred, I set off to university and emerged three years later with a degree with absolutely no relevance to anything that I intended to do with my life. But I also emerged with a book – something called the PACT directory. A magical tome containing the contact details of every single production company in the UK. There were hundreds of them. I had determination, I had focus, I had a plan.

And six months later I had an A4 file containing 253 rejection letters.

But fast forward 20 years and here I am, making the programmes I always wanted to make. On these pages you’ll find information about my productions, and clips to illustrate my work as an executive producer, series producer, director, camera operator, edit producer and writer across the full range of factual programming.
